Nuzzles & Co Purple Paw Program
Before Claudia founded Hugo Coffee Roasters, she was the executive director of Nuzzles & Co. While she was there, she launched the Purple Paw Program for domestic violence survivors and their pets. Many times, those in an abusive relationship will stay with their abuser because they are unable to take their pet with them when they leave.
Nuzzles & Co. provides this much-needed resource for abuse survivors, specifically, a place where survivors could leave their pets while they seek safe refuge and permanent housing solutions. Purple Paw has fostered/housed and cared for more than 191 family pets, and we have assisted over 96 survivors to safely leave their abusers without fear of retaliation towards their pets.
Nuzzles & Co Rez Rescue
Mobile Pet Medical Clinic: The Ute Reservation in Utah is the second-largest Native American Reservation in the U.S., and nearly 3,000 Ute Tribe members and their pets live there. In this remote area, there are few resources for animals. Nuzzles & Co sets up a mobile medical clinic, offers vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and a pet food pantry for members of the Ute Tribe and their pets.
Homeless Pet Rescue & Rehabilitation: No one knows exactly how many homeless animals there are, but the estimates are tens of thousands. Due to a lack of resources and a lack of animal control officers, the shelters have high-kill rates. Resources are limited, and the conditions are harsh. Nuzzles & Co works with local leadership to find, rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt as many animals as possible.
Paws For Life & KPCW Adoptable Moment
Hugo Coffee Roasters is proud to support Paws For Life by underwriting the KPCW weekly Adopotable Moment. Each week a new pet (or two) is featured on the radio and social media pages. And every single week, the featured dogs and cats are adopted. To date, we’ve helped over 190 pets find forever homes.

The Hugo Coffee Street Team can be seen at fundraisers and adoption events around the state of Utah (and ever-expanding areas) supporting with donations and, of course, coffee!
